Fifty Club members first travelled to Carolside Garden near Earlston. Roses of all descriptions mingled with majestic delphiniums, and the click-click-click of cameras great and small was a constant companion. Then it was on to Melrose, where a good number took lunch amid the shady apples trees of Priorwood Garden next door to the Abbey. In the afternoon we visited the expansive estate of Monteviot House and Garden near Jedburgh. Variety was the watchword – from the House with its smooth lawns and vigorous climbers to the charm of the secluded Japanese Garden
